A new trend is budding this season that suggests designers are seeing things through rose colored glasses. The soft romantic hue- toughened up and became a more muted tone for the fall season. It is a change from the neon inspired 80's colors that have also made a recent come back. Victor & Rolf and 3.1 Phillip Lim contrasted the dusty mauve and rose shades with more masculine cuts to create sexy and tailored power suits. Christian Dior, Lanvin, Bottega Veneta went more feminine and draped models in flowing gowns and ruffled dresses. Ralph Lauren and Dries Van Noten used the rose color scheme for every day wear. Anna Sui will be showing her new fashion line that will be at Target soon. The clothing is named after the characters on "The Gossip Girl" and the outfits reflect each girl's style. On Thursday September 10th from 11 A.M. and Friday and Saturday from 11 A.M. to 8 P.M., she will be part of NYC's Fashion Night Out at a pop up store in Soho. The actresses of "Gossip Girl" will also be in attendance. The temporary store will be held at 54 Crosby and Spring Street. Anna Sui is also coming out with a new fragrance named Rock Me which will feature model Agyness Deyn.
A recent clique of models is the fashion's world new industry pick and Jessica Stam is one of the rising stars. She was born in Ontario and grew up with four brothers and wanted to be a dentist. Since then, she has been on the runway for all the top designers and has become a muse for Marc Jacobs who named a handbag after her, the Stam bag. Before the invitations to the traditional haute couture NYC fashion week go out, New York will be hosting Fashion Night Out. Some events will be on September 10th and 11th. On the 10th stores will be open to 11 P.M.. The proceeds from their t-shirts promoting this fashion fiesta will go to help the World Trade Center Museum and Memorial development, in addition to restoring customer confidence and celebrating fashion. It is organized by Vogue, the CFDA, and New York & Co.. Saks will have Donna Karan's debut division opening at Saks' and Justin Timberlake will be at their new eatery ,Snaks, Carolina Herrera will have a magician and Eli Tahari will also be there. Photographer, ,Arthur Elgort, will be painting a model in Sak's window. Bergdorf Goodman will be another store involved and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen will be bartenders at their 7th floor restaurant. Bendel will have a multitude of artists and designers including, Gucci Westland , director for Revlon. Prada just announced its' opening of a five month temporary shop at Place Beauvau in Paris which is inspired by French poet Apollinaire. The designer, Robert Baciocchi, uses references to Mirabeau bridge in his decor, the inspiration for one of Apollinaire's most well known poems. The carpeting and sofas are done in lilac mixed with modern bronze and metal display cases. The floor is chequered in black and white, modeled after the original Milanese Prada store from 1913. A magnificent combination of both beautiful prose and soft colored and modern decor. Hopefully the store will remain at this location longer.

Escada, a major fashion house based in Munich, Germany, has just declared bankruptcy after 36 years. The high end retailer was founded by Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley originally from Sweden and later bought by Procter and Gamble. They developed the brand into a sophisticated woman's line. Most outfits were trendy, yet classic and could be combined in a variety of ways. There were approximately 180 boutiques and 60 franchises worldwide,plus they sold additional merchandise in upscale department stores. They were also coordinated when it came to creating matching shoes, handbags, belts, and other accessories. They even had a collection of perfumes. At one time they had a lower priced line, Laurel. Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey was considering buying Escada as well as another venture group, unfortunately this was not in the cards. The CEO of Escada, formerly of Hugo Boss, tried to get investors to bail Escada out but this was not successful. The recession effected this designer, but other big names such as Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, and Gucci have been analyzed to have a safer future in this troublesome time.

It Is Love perfume is a fragrance which is a tribute to painter and photographer Salvador Dali. The perfume box is designed with a pair of lips surrounded by rhinestones, symbolic of Dali's art work. Bliss has a fresh sugar scrub with the citrus scent of blood orange and white pepper. It is a scrub which exfoliates dry and dead skin cells, but foams with a gentle lather. It comes in a 12 oz. jar and sells for $36. It has an exotic combination of fragrance and reviews say it works as well as it smells.
